Constructed by contractor James Benton Coulter of Fort Morgan for Joseph Quinn, a twenty-seven-year-old U.S. National Bank employee from Denver, the State Bank of Raymer is important for its association with the development of financial services in the rural town of New Raymer.

Completed in 1932, Tammen Hall was built specifically for the training and housing of women nurses by Children’s Hospital, Denver’s first and only hospital specializing in children’s care. The training program, which continued until 1956, reflected the growth and social acceptance of nursing as a legitimate profession for women in the twentieth century.

The Palmer Lake Town Hall is Palmer Lake’s first and only town hall. Established in 1883 about 20 miles north of Colorado Springs, the town was an important supply and support stop for the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad and the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and later became a tourist destination due to its appealing mountain setting. Following the rise of prominent hotels and summertime Chautauqua Assemblies, Palmer Lake grew in size such that a permanent home for town council meetings was needed.

The Wagon Wheel Gap Fluorspar Mine and Mill provided the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company (CF&I) with fluorspar, a material essential to the manufacture of steel, and became part of CF&I’s holdings in a manner typical of the steel company’s vertical integration structure.

The Bennett House is reportedly one of the few examples of two-story wood-frame Edwardian-style residential architecture in Fort Collins.

Built in 1922 by a local logging company and initially used as an office/living quarters, this modest building is important for serving as the post office in the rural mountain community of Red Feather Lakes from 1952 to 1969.

Constructed ca. 1900 by George Feick & Company of Sandusky, Ohio, the National Sugar Manufacturing Company Gates were erected on the southern edge of Sugar City as the grand entrance to the National Beet Sugar Company factory completed that same year.

The Capulin area was settled in the 1860s by early pobladores (settlers) that came to the San Luis Valley from Northern New Mexico, and an initial Catholic church was built in 1878.

Constructed in 1906 as a base for cattle grazing in the rugged canyon country of western Montrose County, the Henry Huff Cabin is associated with early cattle grazing prior to the 1934 Taylor Grazing Act, which altered the manner and scope of grazing on public lands. 

The present Our Lady of Guadalupe Church dates to 1927/1948 and serves a heavily Hispano parish that has long-standing ties to the settlement of the San Luis Valley in the early 1850s.
