- Visitor Services Representative Volunteer

Visitor Services Representative volunteers provide customer service to museum visitors, including informing guests about the tour schedule, giving directions around the site, and answering questions about the museum and exhibits. Interested volunteers may be trained for the museum’s point of sale system to assist customers in the gift store and operate the register for ticket and gift sales.

Desired Schedule:
The Trinidad History Museum is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday, 10 am-4 pm. Flexible schedule available between opening hours.
- Tour Guide

Tour guides at the Trinidad History Museum lead visitors through the Baca House in groups of 1-15. Outside of house tours, guides can help provide support in other museum buildings and direct guests through exhibit spaces as needed.
Desired Skills:
- a knowledge of and passion for history,
- feel comfortable speaking in front of groups, and
- be physically able to stand, walk and talk for up to three hours in a row.
Desired Schedule:
Tours of the Baca House are available to visitors Tuesday-Saturday at 11 am and 1 pm. Flexible schedule available between 10 am and 4 pm Tues-Sat to lead tours and provide support during opening hours.
- Education Docent

Education docents help with education programs such as Hands-On History, adult classes, and school programs. Depending on schedule and interests, docents may help with prep work, facilitation of classes and events, and support with school programs.
Desired Skills:
- Feel comfortable speaking to groups of all ages, including large groups of children
- Physically able to walk, stand, and talk for up to three hours in a row
- Able to monitor the collections while giving a tour or leading programs
Desired schedule:
Most education programs are offered year-round, and commonly take place during Fridays, evenings, and weekends.
- Trinidad History Museum Tea Volunteer

Tea volunteers help set up the Bloom Mansion for tea parties, including place settings, centerpieces, and food displays. During the tea service, volunteers ensure tea is replenished as needed and engage with guests.
Desired Skills:
- Comfortable hosting guests at the teas and handling food
Desired Schedule:
Teas are typically scheduled once a month on Saturday afternoons.
- Trinidad History Museum Garden Volunteer

Volunteers for our gardens onsite help under the supervision of our Groundskeeper. Activities may include planting, watering, mowing, weeding, and other upkeep of various areas in gardens.
Desired Skills:
- Interest and passion for gardening!
Desired Schedule:
Schedule can be flexible to accommodate volunteer, especially to consider cooler morning/evening temperatures in warmer months, and slower needs during winter.
