Trinidad History Museum to offer Creative in Residence Opportunity for this Fall
TRINIDAD, Colo. (June 20, 2019) – History Colorado has opened the application period for an upcoming Creative in Residence opportunity at Trinidad History Museum. With Trinidad’s emergence as a thriving arts community, this program provides a space for artists to create and share their talent with the local community. This particular residency will run from September to October 2019.
History Colorado will provide living and working space in the Barglow Building, a 1906 house on the museum grounds. All utilities for the property will be provided and paid for by History Colorado, excepting internet or telephone connection. The museum will also promote and publicize the artist and the Creative in Residence program.
In return, the artist is encouraged to attend and participate in museum events, programs, as well as the Creative in Residence programs offered in the local schools. At the end of the residency, the artist will donate a piece to the collection at Trinidad History Museum.
The residency is open to creatives in any medium. Past residents have included oil painter Leigh Elliott, graphic novelist Ashley St. Lawrence, relief printer Amanda Palmer, multimedia artist Meghan Wilbar, and herbalist Jackie Brockmeyer.

Trinidad History Museum is more than a museum. It is part of the Corazón de Trinidad Creative District, and as such serves as a key part of the beating heart of art and culture of southern Colorado. The museum has hosted a variety of artistic features, of which the ongoing Creative in Residence program is just one example. As part of this program, artists from all around the nation, who work in a variety of different mediums, have stayed and worked in Trinidad to experience the local culture and share their amazing talents with the local community.
