The U.S. Department of Interior’s Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) Program provides funding for a portion of the operation of Colorado’s State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). The National Park Service specifies that at least 10 percent of these funds be subgranted to Certified Local Governments (CLGs).
Since 2000, History Colorado, (Colorado’s SHPO) has provided the required match to these funds through History Colorado’s State Historical Fund. Therefore, local governments may apply for CLG grants without providing matching funds.
Counties and municipalities must be designated a CLG prior to the grant application submittal deadline in order to be eligible for CLG grant funding.
OAHP is offering scholarships for commission members, elected officials, and staff to attend and/or complete in-person or online educational opportunities related to fulfilling their duties as a CLG. History Colorado is approximately $5,700 in scholarships on a first come, first served basis for events occurring between April 25 and July 31, 2022.
- Eligible Expenses: Eligible Expenses for this scholarship are limited to registration fees for online or in-person courses, virtual or in-person conferences, webinars, and other remote learning opportunities. The focus of these educational opportunities must directly relate to the fulfillment of CLG responsibilities, at the discretion of History Colorado.
