Certified Local Government Grants
The U.S. Department of Interior’s Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) Program provides funding for a portion of the operation of Colorado’s State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). The National Park Service specifies that at least 10 percent of these funds be subgranted to Certified Local Governments (CLGs).
Since 2000, History Colorado (Colorado’s SHPO) has provided the required match to these funds through History Colorado’s State Historical Fund. Therefore, local governments may apply for CLG grants without providing matching funds.
Counties and municipalities must be designated a CLG prior to the grant application submittal deadline in order to be eligible for CLG grant funding. Discover how to become a CLG.
