Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center Volunteer Opportunities
Fort Garland Museum and Cultural Center includes original adobe buildings and view excellent exhibits on how the fort was saved and preserved. And, don’t miss the Infantry and cavalry barracks exhibits, an exhibit on the Buffalo Soldiers and the historic dioramas. From the Fort, plan a visit to Pike's Stockade, where Zebulon Pike and his men camped in the early 1800s.
The Fort Garland Museum and Cultural Center is looking for 8th-12th Grade Students to assist with our Hands On History Summer Camp program.
Each member of the Museum Corps must be able to commit to a total of 10 hours a week for the summer – starting the week of June 12 through August 5. (Of course, we can work around family vacations and other obligations.) Teens who fulfill this obligation will earn a cash education award at the end of the summer. Participants will also earn real-world experience, and over 50 hours for school-related community service credit.
All qualified applicants will be invited to interview. Participants who are selected for the Teen Museum Corps will be required to attend an orientation prior to the start of our Summer Program.
