History Colorado Bus Fund

The History Colorado Bus Fund offers field trip assistance to underrepresented schools wishing to visit any History Colorado museums. The funding covers bus transportation (driver and fuel). Schools are responsible for making their own transportation arrangements and paying for the bus. Applicants must complete the application below and submit a State of Colorado Substitute W-9 for the school district.

Schools do not need to qualify for Title I funding. Bus Fund Reimbursements are on a first-come, first-served basis according to when the request was submitted, not the date of your field trip.

Schools must have a reservation to visit one of History Colorado's museums:

  • the History Colorado Center
  • El Pueblo History Museum
  • Center for Colorado Women's History
  • Trinidad History Museum
  • Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center
  • Ute Indian Museum

Maximum requests for reimbursements are as follows:

  • Schools that are <50 miles from the destination museum may request up to $500.
Schools that are 51-100 miles from the destination museum may request up to $1000.
Schools that are >101 miles from the destination museum may request up to $2000.

Bus Fund reimbursements will be given in the form of a check to the school district office. Reimbursements will be processed in the order they were received at the end of the fall and spring semesters for field trips that have already occurred.

Please email a copy of your school district W-9 form to Josie Chang-Order, School Programs Manager at josie.chang-order@state.co.us. If you have questions, email is preferred; however, you can also reach Josie at 303-866-3345.

Thank you to the Charles M. and Faye G. Schayer Charitable Foundation for their generous support for transportation assistance to ensure that all schoolchildren have access to History Colorado Programs!.
