Anasazi Archaeological District
Montezuma County
The focus of one of the largest federally funded cultural resource mitigation efforts ever funded by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the district has seen a wide variety of human visitation and occupation over time.
Firm evidence of regular human occupation dates from about 3000 BC onward, with the most intensive peopling occurring in the developmental Anasazi tradition. It is now largely submerged.
