The City of Colorado Springs is using an SHF grant to repair and clean the exterior masonry and repoint the mortar joints. The Depot is at the center of plans for a new technology and education campus, intended to foster new businesses, research, and development in the defense, technology, and aerospace industries. This preservation effort guarantees that the historic depot will play a vital role in the economic and technological future of Colorado Springs—and demonstrates how the public and private sectors can work together for historical preservation.

This grant is funding the rehabilitation of the west elevation windows. The Depot has undergone rehabilitation efforts since 2014 to repurpose the historic building into the Catalyst Campus for Technology and Innovation. Subsequent phases of work to address the remaining windows and doors are expected as part of the ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the depot and mitigate further deterioration to this immense historical resource.
