Harvey J. Parish House/Parish House Museum

Weld County

Founder and mayor of Johnsontown, Colorado, and president of the Hillsborough Ditch Company, Harvey J. Parish was instrumental in bringing irrigation to the Big Thompson Valley in Weld County.

The only Craftsman-style house in Johnstown, his 1914 house is today listed on the National Register of Historic Places and operates as the Parish House Museum and Johnstown Historical Society.  This year’s grant project will rehabilitate the roof, masonry, and window and door of the site’s historic garage.  Once completed, the garage will be ADA accessible and include a new interpretive center, providing the museum with more tools to educate and serve the community, all while preserving the legacy of a historic Weld County leader.
