The Kelty's Bar Mill Iron Ranch

Douglas County

In 1873, Christopher Kelty homesteaded the 240 acres in Douglas County that he had been living on for a few years. Up until 1974, the Kelty's operated a dariy farm. Belgian work horses also used to be raised on the ranch. An unusual wooden silo built around 1900 is one of the numerous historic structures on the ranch. Three dams were constructed in 1933 by the CCC to control erosion.
