Margaret Tobin Brown House / Molly Brown House / House of Lions

Denver County

The famous Molly Brown House Museum, home of Titanic survivor Margaret Tobin Brown, is a designated landmark in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. This top Denver attraction has been welcoming visitors for over forty-three years.

A two-story stone house with multiple gable peaks. The house is painted red where there is not stone.

Designed by local architect William Lang in 1889 and sold to the Browns four years later, the elegant abode stayed within the family until Molly’s death in 1932.  Rescued from demolition in 1970, the house underwent massive restoration and stands today as an elegant example of circa 1910 architecture.

Historic Denver is running an ongoing reinvestment campaign to keep the home preserved.  Support from the SHF has contributed to previous maintenance projects.  With grant 14-01-024 the frequented front porch underwent critical rehabilitation.  Grant 17-01-14 focused on the rehabilitation of the windows, as well as a masonry cleaning project that represented the final phase of exterior restoration work.
