Plymouth Congregational Church

Denver County

Built in the 1890s, the First Unitarian Society Church is a unique example of construction using locally sourced rhyolite in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. First Unitarian Society of Denver has occupied the building since 1958, and has been involved in community work and social justice advocacy since its founding.

The SHF grant will help address deteriorated masonry—including repointing and cleaning—on all four masonry façades of the First Unitarian Society, a recently designated Denver landmark, located in the Capitol Hill/Cheesman Park neighborhood.

The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.
