The dredge was constructed in 1908 for the French Gulch Dredging Company to mine gold from sand, gravel, and dirt from the stream channels. It was in operation from 1915 through 1922, but has since fallen into critical disrepair. This proposed preservation project consists of repairing portions of the dredge deck, bracing and repairing the standing columns at the stern, bracing/strengthening the standing columns at mid ship, and re-erecting the starboard ladder well framing and bracing between port and starboard sides.
