Richard Crawford Campbell House

Denver County

Built in 1926, the historic Richard Crawford Campbell House embodies the eclectic Beaux Arts style of its time. Business manager of the Rocky Mountain News, Richard Campbell commissioned the house after he and his wife moved to the trendy Morgan’s Subdivision located high above the congestion of downtown Denver.

Donated to Denver Botanic Gardens in 1958, the house served as the Garden’s original administration building. Tiles falling from the roof recently prompted an investigation that revealed structural and cosmetic damage. This SHF grant project will fund roof rehabilitation, using original Spanish Green tiles where possible and replicas where necessary.
