Dr. Katie Knowles is Curator of the Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Design and Merchandising at Colorado State University. Knowles teaches courses in historic clothing and textiles, and her research focuses on the history of fashion in the United States. She is currently writing a book about enslaved peoples’ clothing in the antebellum U.S. South.
