The 1968 Exhibit at History Colorado – The year that rocked history!

DENVER, Nov. 10 –1968 was the year that rocked history.  The 1968 traveling exhibit, being brought to Denver in February 2015 by History Colorado, brings to life this pivotal American year through photographs, artifacts, vintage pop culture items and interactives.  Give a History Colorado annual membership or buy tickets to the 1968 retro-themed premiere party being held on February 5.

History Colorado memberships start at just $65 and include admission to all current and upcoming exhibits, including the 1968 exhibit.  To join, visit h-co.org/join or call 303/866-3639.

The 1968 premiere party will be held on Thursday, February 5th at the History Colorado Center, 1200 Broadway in Denver.  Tickets for the event cost $100 per person and members can attend the event for $90 per person.  Get your tickets at http://historycoloradocenter.org/exhibits/the-1968-exhibit/premiere-party/.  You’ll be transported back to the year 1968.  Guests will have first access to the exhibit, as well as entertainment, groovy music, cuisine and cocktails in a setting reminiscent of 1968.  There’s nowhere else in the state where guests can explore this incredible year, reflect on your own fond memories, and see the events that changed Colorado and America forever.

In 1968, the death toll in the Vietnam War reached a new high.  Riots and demonstrations raged across the country. Apollo 8 orbited the moon.  And, the nation was transformed by the tragic assassinations of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert Kennedy.  The 1960s also charted a dramatic road in America’s pop culture.  It was in 1968 that Hair opened on Broadway, “Laugh In” debuted on television, Johnny Cash gave his famous performance at Folsom Prison and Led Zeppelin made their American debut right here in Denver.

Give the gift of History Colorado membership and trips back in time exploring Colorado’s storied past.  Or, ’step into the story’ and go all out by giving the gift of tickets to the 1968 premiere party.  Either way, you’ll be giving someone a gift they cannot get anywhere else.

The 1968 exhibit was developed by the Minnesota History Center in partnership with the Atlanta History Center, the Chicago History Museum and the Oakland Museum of California.  Order tickets to the 1968 Premier Party at H-CO.org/1968 Party
