History Colorado Center Visitors and Media Invited to Learn About Life Aboard the U.S.S. Colorado Nuclear-Powered-Attack Submarine

Denver, Colo. (June 1, 2022)  — On June 6, 2022, from 2:45pm to 3:30pm, visitors to the History Colorado Center are invited to meet the Navy crew of the U.S.S. Colorado nuclear-powered-attack submarine. Attendees will learn about living aboard it for long durations of time. The meet and greet will take place in the Stephen H. Hart Research Center on the 2nd floor of the History Colorado Center and is included with a  general admission ticket.

“Crewmembers from the submarine will be visiting the History Colorado Center to learn more about their boat’s namesake state,” explains History Colorado Anschutz Associate Curator of Military History Dr. Chris Juergens. “But this will be an interactive question and answer session where our museum visitors will also get to ask about life in the Navy and aboard the U.S.S. Colorado.”

Visitors will also get to learn about a prior U.S.S. Colorado, a WWII-era battleship decommissioned in 1947, through artifacts that will be on display in the Research Center.

The event was coordinated with the U.S.S. Colorado Submarine Association, which organizes crew visits to Colorado.
