The Volunteer Council exists to enhance the volunteer experience. The Council shall consist of individuals who are active volunteers of History Colorado. The Volunteer Council shall provide a voice for the Volunteers of History Colorado and through its leadership team, shall work with the Director of Volunteer Engagement to analyze the needs of History Colorado volunteers in order to keep their roles current and relevant to the History Colorado Mission. The role of the Volunteer Council is advisory. The Council shall assist the Director of Volunteer Engagement and staff by making recommendations, reviewing the volunteer experience, listening to volunteer needs, offering enrichment opportunities, offering guidance, and by helping to create a better volunteer community that serves the educational and cultural needs of the volunteers.
Youth Advisory Council
The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) at History Colorado is a newly formed group of teens from across Colorado. The council’s goal is to increase youth involvement in history education by advising on special events and new opportunities for young people in all of the communities in which History Colorado sites are located. Meetings are held virtually and in person to ensure equal access to students all over Colorado. Members of the council are chosen by an application and interview process.
