First Church of Divine Science
Denver County
The Althea Center, a spiritual community founded by three sisters from Pueblo in the early 20th century, calls the First Church of Divine Science its home.
Denver architect Jacques Benedict designed the building in 1922 in the Classical Revival style. This grant is helping to fund the recommendations made in a Historic Structure Assessment conducted in 2005—specifically, the replacement of its roof, which is cracking, blistering, and allowing water infiltration.
The building is listed on the National Register.
