Emil W. Pfeiffer

Emil M. Pfeiffer was born in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1864. He came to Colorado in 1882 and worked as a bank accountant. However, during the economic troubles of the 1890s he became a miner in the Cripple Creek area. He was a participant in the 1893 Cripple Creek miners' strike, one of the earliest and most impactful labor conflicts in Colorado. He was one of the first county commissioners of Teller County shortly after its creation. He moved to Denver in 1907 and resided there at least through the 1920s, and held a number of "important positions."
