DENVER – Governor Hickenlooper announced today during a press conference, the History Colorado State Historical Fund has awarded 40 grants for historic preservation projects, totaling more than $4.2 million for their latest grant round. This brings the total amount of State Historical Fund dollars that have been awarded to communities across the state to more than $7.9 million for the state fiscal year 2016. Also today Hickenlooper publicly announced the appointment of the State Historical Fund director, Steve W. Turner, as Colorado’s new State Historic Preservation Officer.
DENVER – On October 12th, History Colorado will explore Denver’s culinary past as part of the Colorful Colorado lecture series. From mining camp bakeries to continental cuisine, historians Robert and Kristen Autobee will discuss Denver's vanished eateries in their new book, the Lost Restaurants of Denver. The lecture will highlight the stories of innovation, hard work and crazy ideas that led to the Denver restaurants (and meals) of yesteryear.
DENVER – History Colorado will honor outstanding individuals and communities who are preserving Colorado’s diverse past at the History Colorado awards ceremony on February 3 at the History Colorado Center in Denver.
